A Better World is Possible

<itunes:subtitle>Dada Maheshvarananda speaks to an audiance in Maine, USA about the principles of PROUT and how they may be applied to create a better world.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> In his opening comments, Dada Maheshvarananda pointed out the painful fact that half the world's population lives, suffers, and dies in poverty. The current global economic system isn't meeting the needs of the world's peoples and new thinking is required to go beyond the values of maximum profit accumulation, selfishness, and greed.Dada described the new ideas of PROUT: that a community isn't a jungle free-for-all where the economic and social winners have no responsibilities. Rather, a healthy community is one in which people move together like a family toward a common goal.Dada described Sarkar's PROUT paradigm as one based in ideals of economic self-reliance, cooperative and decentralized industry, environmental balance, and universal spiritual values manifested in the importance of the welfare of all humanity. In short, the basic idea of a healthy society in PROUT's system is one in which the world's resources are shared in a rational way for the welfare of all. This talk was recorded by Alex Jackimovicz for the PROUT Research Institute of USA - www.pri.prout.org - More information about this talk is available HERE </itunes:summary>

The Principle of Social Equality

<itunes:subtitle>In this talk, Amal Jacobson breaks down P.R. Sarkar's idea of "Sama Samaj Tattva" or Principle of Social Equality.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> In this talk, Amal Jacobson breaks down P.R. Sarkar's idea of "Sama Samaj Tattva" or Principle of Social Equality. This is an ideology that seeks to create a society in which all beings have value and are treated with respect. Also, a society in which decisions are made with a rational mind and actions are taken only if they are beneficial to collective welfare. The opposite of Sama Samaj Tattva is "Atma Sukha Tattva" or Principle of Self-Pleasure. This is the "me-first" mentality, the prevailing ideology, which allows human behavior to run rampant with disregard to social, environmental, and economical concerns. Examples of this can be find in geo-sentiments and social sentiments like "my country is the best!," often played upon by politicians and multi-national corporations. </itunes:summary>

Pseudo-Culture and Capitalism

<itunes:subtitle>In this talk, Abraham Ana'di Heisler looks at what P.R. Sarkar defined as "pseudo-culture" and how it is perpetuated by capitalism.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> In this talk, Abraham Ana'di Heisler speaks about culture as defined by P.R. Sarkar. Abraham examines different aspects of culture and labels true culture as "resonant" culture because it resonates with a group of people on a deeper level. In contrast, culture which is imposed by one group of people on another group is called "pseudo-culture".By looking at the phenomena of "pop-culture", Abraham postulates that most of today's pop-culture is pseudo-culture because it originates from wealthy countries and is sold to poorer countries for profit. This creates an economic and cultural dependency between poor and rich countries that is only possible under capitalism.Discussion for this talk can be found here - http://forum.proutcast.org/viewforum.php?f=6&start=0 </itunes:summary>

He then goes on to elaborate on some of the basic principles of PROUT and how Sarkar's ideas addressed these human tendencies.Dada believes that today's technology is advanced enough to deal with the earth's problems, but the powers that be do not support technology, which wrests power from their hands. This is an err in human value that leads local people to be dependent on multi-national corporations for energy, fuel, communication, etc.The solution is to support sustainable technology, which empowers a decentralized economic system, and to emphasize science, aesthetics, and neohumanist values in our education.Discussion for this talk can be found here - http://forum.proutcast.org/viewforum.php?f=7&start=0 </itunes:summary>
